Registration for two of the Marine Corps Marathon's events, the MCM10K presented by Aetna and the Healthy Kids Fun Run, opened online at noon, on Wednesday, April 17 at www.marinemarathon.com.
The MCM10K, to be held on Sunday, Oct. 27, will include 10,000 participants running a course that starts among the buildings of the Smithsonian Institution on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and finishes at the Marine Corps War Memorial in Rosslyn. The MCM10K is open to runners ages 8 and above.
Registration for the MCM10K costs $48 and includes the competitor shirt, bib with timing device, the MCM event program and many other amenities throughout MCM Weekend. Finishers receive a medal and finisher certificate.
Registration for the Healthy Kids Fun Run to be hosted the day prior to the MCM, Saturday, Oct. 26, costs $10 and is open to youngsters ages 5 to 12. The young runners will embark on a one-mile course lined with cheering U.S. Marines. The Healthy Kids Fun Run, held in the North Pentagon parking lot in Arlington, offers free shuttle service for families from the Pentagon Metro to the Kids Run start line, entertainment, mascots, healthy snacks and Camp Miles, a family-oriented festival featuring interactive challenges, games, exhibits and crafts. All participants receive an event shirt, keepsake bib and medal.
The Healthy Kids Fun Run is open to individuals or organized school groups whose participation may be recognized with the Healthy School Award, presented to those schools with the most student participants.
