School Board Honors Volunteers

To acknowledge the support of volunteers in Arlington Public Schools, the Arlington School Board will recognize 15 citizens at the Volunteer Appreciation Reception and Ceremony on April 25. The reception begins at 7 p.m. and the recognition ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m.

The honorees are chosen for their involvement in a variety of school activities throughout the county and sustained commitment (usually five or more years) to the Arlington Public Schools.

This year’s Honored Citizens are:

  • Alexandra Arriaga – Parent Resource Center, ASEAC

  • Kate McCauley Balick – Key, Gunston and Wakefield

  • Dawn Bova - Tuckahoe, Williamsburg

  • Miriam Gennari – Claremont, Wakefield, Sustainability Committee

  • Mark Grove – New Directions

  • Joan Horwitt – Ashlawn, ATS, Reevesland Learning Center and Garden Project

  • Janalee Jordan-Meldrum – Key

  • Arma Jane Karaer – Tuckahoe

  • Kathleen McSweeney – Long Branch, Jefferson, Washington-Lee

  • Ronald Molteni – Tuckahoe

  • Roxana Montano – Barrett, Washington-Lee, ACI ESOL/HILT Committee

  • Geneva Moores – Key, Gunston

  • Anita Morgan and Yarn Crafters (Aurora Hills Senior Center) – Barcroft

  • Pete Neal – Advisory Council on Accountability and Evaluation

  • Jason Rylander – Glebe, FAC.
