The Alexandria Sportsman’s Club held its annual banquet earlier this year celebrating high school student-athletes and awarding more than $52,000 in scholarships to 20 high school seniors as Athletes of the Year.
"We had a memorable evening at the Westin in Alexandria, celebrating Alexandria’s outstanding student-athletes at the 68th Annual Alexandria Sportsman’s Club Awards Banquet with 250 attending,” said ASC president Ryan Fannon. “Congratulations to the remarkable young men and women from our city’s four high schools of Alexandria City High School, Bishop Ireton High School, Episcopal High School, and St. Stephen's & St. Agnes along with the Alexandria Recreation Department that all received Athlete of the Year honors.”
Held at the Westin Hotel Old Town on May 28, the organization annually recognizes top students in more than 40 different athletic sporting categories.
“This year, we proudly awarded 21 scholarships totaling $52,500 to include 20 Marion and Rick Moon scholarships at $2,500 each and an Inaugural Vocational Scholarship for $2,500,” Fannon said. “Special thanks to our generous supporters, ASC Officers and Boards of Governors, banquet volunteers, and everyone who made this night possible."

Alexandria City High School - Caroline Block; Kaitlin Elizabeth Chittick; Michael Coulby; Virginia (Ginny) Coulby; Josephine Damico-Lassman; Allison Goetz; Kalina Janevski; Hannah Mikolop; Daniel Organek; and Braelynn Tomanio
Bishop Ireton High School - Drew Madden; Kate Hare; Kendra Harris; Michael Bobrowski; Therese Forrer; and Cecelia Wright.
Episcopal High School - Campbell Shelby.
St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School - Claire Hanley; Carter Stimson; and Loui-Jamar Goin.

Special Recognition Awards: Gene Bode Hall of Fame Award – Bud Mayo; William Hershberger Civic Award – Tamika Coleman; Past President Award – Jerry Whitmire; Coach of the Year – Kesha Walton; and Sportsman of the Year – Jeanne Jacob.
