“Whish whish whish.” William Young is attempting to draw out the Orange-crowned and the female American Redstart warblers spotted in the bushes by the Boundary Channel earlier on the annual Christmas Bird Count. Young is the official counter for Subsector 5 that encompasses LBJ Memorial Grove. He says “the Orange-crowned Warbler is unusual for this time of the year but the American Redstart is bizarre and the first we’ve seen on the count in the 25 years I have been counting.”
