The Salsa Room is packed as Andres Tobar, master of ceremonies for the evening celebration for Leni Gonzalez, recounts her leadership in a number of organizations including SEEC, VACOLAO, VACIR and LULAC. Andres Tobar lapsed into Spanish to bring order to the enthusiastic crowd. A number of speakers presented memories from various aspects of Gonzalez’s life including the keynote by Walter Tejada and videos from U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine.
